About Grim Reaper Consulting

Grim Reaper Consulting kills unnecessary projects. That's the whole service.

It exists because the arithmetic of running a company changed. AI made starting things cheap: an analysis, a proposal or a pilot now takes an afternoon. Budgets grew, and most of the growth went to AI. Planned headcount growth fell to 2%, managers carry bigger teams than ever, and every person-hour now comes with a token bill on top of the salary. So companies run more projects than anyone has time to steer, and each one costs more than it used to. The case for killing projects sets out the evidence, with sources.

It's for CEOs and COOs who suspect their company is running too many projects and can't get it to stop. Maybe it's a row of AI pilots that never reached production, a transformation programme on its third phase, or a portfolio where nobody can say which projects still matter. You know some of them should die. Nobody wants to be the one who says so.

It isn't a headcount exercise. Projects stop so the people in them can do something better, and every kill on the list says where its people go next. It isn't a report either. The Inquest ends with decisions your leadership team makes in the room, each with a stop date and a person who carries it out. And it doesn't end with a pitch for the next project. I'm not attached to any of yours.

I'm kdaniel. I've spent the last decade helping organisations with strategy, and I build software with AI every day. I write about what AI does to organisations on AI POV and about getting work finished on Execute. Grim Reaper Consulting is the part of that work where something has to stop.
